I think this is going to go down as one of my all-time favorite portraits. The drawing shown is a portrait of the Doberman Pinscher dog “Heidi”. As a Doberman-lover myself, this drawing had special meaning to me. The project also came in right about the time that my own black Dobe passed. Somehow working with these beautiful images of Heidi helped me get through the grieving process. Thanks to Karen and Ty for this wonderful opportunity! This drawing of Chelsea the dog was completed in December 2010. Chelsea, the beautiful mix-breed dog, made for a wonderful custom drawing subject!

This pet portrait is a custom pencil drawing of two dogs: Scooter and Dugan. Dugan was the inspiration for a new family business – natural treatments for hot spots! I will be featuring the new company, DSM Natural Products, in an upcoming post on my pencil drawings blog.
